Miles (1995? - 2009)
As you all know or may have heard by now, Miles had cancer compounded with liver failure and had
been home at Flights of Fantasy for hospice care this past week. Unfortunately, I knew he was
miserable. He had to be forced fed and hydrated. I personally would have kept trying but
Miles was miserable and beginning to get really uncomfortable. I needed to let him go.
Miles was euthanized this past Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
Miles went quickly and peacefully. His veterinarian, Dr. Rafter was very gentle and gave him
an anesthetic just to put him under - like what's done to a patient prior to surgery. Once
he was sleeping deeply, she administered more of the drug to stop his heart. I'm still crying
but I know he is no longer unhappy. I will be getting back his cremated remains and will keep
him with my other cats' remains at home. I've told my husband, David, that when I go, I want
to be cremated too - And then my cats and my dog (who thought she was a cat anyway) can be together
in one big urn! This may sound icky to other folks but it sure sounds pretty purrfect to me....
Miles was a great cat with a big personality who was well loved. I, and many of you, I know,
will miss him.
I want to THANK all the people who rallied behind Miles. With your help, I was able to do
the best for him and able to provide him with the care he needed until the end.
